TULIA, Texas (KFDA) - Plenty of coaches look for a change during the offseason, but one coach, Trevor Cordova, is going back to a place that’s very familiar to him.
The Caprock alum has been the Longhorns’ baseball coach for the last seven years, but now he’s going back to Tulia High School to be their head baseball coach and athletic director.
He previously worked with the Hornets from 2016-18, serving as the school’s assistant baseball coach.
He gave a statement via text message about his new opportunity.
“I am incredibly excited and thankful for the opportunity that Tulia ISD has given me. I would not be here without the lessons in hard work, shared knowledge, and dedication from the coaches that I have had the pleasure of working alongside. With the help of the faculty, students, and community, I am ready to build Tulia athletics into the premier athletic program in the Panhandle.”

The Longhorns finished this past baseball season with a singular win, while the Hornets finished the season fourth in their district, qualifying for the playoffs, but falling in the bi-district round to Idalou.
