AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - River Road High School hired Jonathan Wise as their new head baseball coach on Thursday, who will be taking over the job from Bart Upchurch.
Wise was the head baseball coach at Childress High School for the past seven years, getting the Bobcats to their first playoff series win this year for the first time in 14 years.
He’s an Amarillo High graduate that has had plenty of coaching stints around the Panhandle, including both Caprock and Panhandle.
River road athletic director, Aaron Wampler, said this about Wise joining the Wildcat family.
“Wise’s energy, knowledge, and passion make him a kid magnet! When you pair that with his experience and success as a coach...he’s an obvious fit for the Road. We are excited he is going to be a Wildcat!”
