AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Dumas Demonettes’ softball team is one of the only remaining teams in the Panhandle to continue on the road to the championship, making school history by competing in their first regional finals round in program history.
They’ve won all but one game in the playoffs out of seven so far, grabbing two series sweeps in both the area and regional semifinal rounds.
Dumas head softball coach, Carlyn Tolleson, says this is a dream come true for her and her team.
“Dumas has a rich, rich history of of softball, and it’s just such a blessing to to bring it back here for all the softball players and for the community and and for this team and just everything that that this team put into that win was huge,” said Tolleson. “Words cannot describe, you know, making program history and what it meant to this group of girls and and it’s just an incredible feeling...gives me goosebumps. I’m still, you know, reliving that night. We’re just so, so excited and honored to be here and we can’t wait for that next round.
The Demonettes will face Andrews in the regional finals, a team they have already fallen to earlier in the season, 8-4. However, two seasons ago, Dumas defeated Andrews in the bi-district round.
The two will play in game one on Friday at 6:00 p.m. CST at Plainview High School. Game two and three (if necessary) will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the same location.
