AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo ISD announced that Zachary Tabor will be the new head coach for Tascosa girls basketball on Tuesday.

For the past three seasons, Tabor was calling the shots for 6A San Antonio Reagan for the Lady Rattlers.
Prior to his stint with Reagan, Tabor was an assistant coach for 4A Argyle Lady Eagles, who claimed the 2019 State Championship and were runners ups in 2020 after falling to Fairfield in overtime.
Amarillo ISD issued a press release regarding the hire saying:
“When Coach Sumrall announced his retirement, we really believed we would have a strong pool of candidates since this program has reached such a high standard at a statewide level. We were definitely not wrong about that. Throughout this process, we just kept getting outstanding feedback on Coach Tabor. As we went through the interview process, he just stood out. We think he will be a great fit and continue the tradition that has been developed at Tascosa.”
— Brad Thiessen - Amarillo ISD Athletic Director
Tabor takes over a Lady Rebels team who is fresh off a regional finals appearance, and three straight playoff runs under Chris Sumrall who announced his retirement from coaching and teaching just a month ago.
