DUMAS, Texas (KFDA) - The Dumas Demonettes clinched their second consecutive outright title in District 4-4A, known as one of the most talent-ridden districts in the state.
They did so after defeating Canyon by a score of 8-4, marking a perfect 12-0 start to district play.
They’ve won in a multitude of ways, with eight of those 12 wins coming by double-digits, but two of them by just a single run.
Despite the success they’ve had, head coach Carlyn Tolleson knows that even with the district championship in their hands, the work isn’t done just yet.
“We’re excited about [being] district champions, of course, and we’re excited about the playoffs, but we still have work to do,” Tolleson said. “We would love to compete to the best of our ability. Every practice, every game, every scrimmage, we go all out, no matter what. It doesn’t matter if it’s a scrimmage or if it’s a playoff game. We give our same effort and hard work, no matter who we’re playing, no matter the circumstances. We still have some unfinished business.”

The Demonettes close out the season with two very tough games, first going against the West Plains Lady Wolves.
As aforementioned, Dumas has two different one-run wins in district play. The first of those was their only other meeting with the Lady Wolves, back on March 21, where they squeaked out with a 5-4 victory.
The game is set for Tuesday at 4:30 at The Inferno (Dumas’s softball field). It’s their final home game of the regular season.
Afterward, they’ll travel to Pampa for a visit with the Lady Harvesters on Friday to wrap up the season before heading into the playoffs.
