AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The West Plains Lady Wolves will face the Stephenville Honeybees in the Lady Wolves’ first ever regional semifinal appearance on Friday.
The Lady Wolves finished second in district play.
In the playoffs, West Plains defeated Burkburnett in overtime, 2-1, and shut out Ysleta, 2-0.
Lady Wolves’ head girls soccer coach, Amberlee Gerald, says facing Stephenville was inevitable, but her girls are up for the task.
“We expected to be this far...we expected that we were gonna earn our way to the regional semifinals for the first time,” said Gerald. “We knew that at some point we were gonna have to face Stephenville. We know that they’re gonna be a competitive team. They’re gonna be a good hard solid team as they always are but our spirits are really high. Our girls are so hyped up right now, and feel really prepared going into this game.”
