With a top five consisting on Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, LSU and UCLA, the five-star prospect ultimately decided on Norman.

“I definitely think it’s the girls for sure,” Chavez said. “The people that I was with on the visit, we connected for sure. The vibe was definitely different, so I definitely think that’s what made me pick [Oklahoma].”

This past season, Chavez averaged 34.9 points per game (6th highest in the country), 9.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.7 steals, leading Monterey the state title in 5A D2.
