WOLFFORTH, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo High Lady Sandies defeated the Abilene Lady Eagles by a score of 2-0 on Friday.
It was the bi-district round, marking the Lady Sandies' second gold ball of the season, after they ran through district undefeated.
In a low-scoring affair, Sophie Ferro got Amarillo High on the board first, and Saylor Carroll tacked on the second goal with a header to secure the win.
“Always starting the playoffs, we’ve got a little nerves but we came out the first second of the game, almost had a goal within the first minute, and the girls were ready to play,” Amarillo High head coach Stacey McPherson said. “We just outplayed them, from start to finish.”
With the win, Amarillo High improves to 18-1-2 on the season, advancing to play El Paso El Dorado (14-6-2) in the area round.
Abilene’s season ends with a record of 6-11-3.
