DIMMITT, Texas (KFDA) - Former Friona head coach, Jimmy Arias, was named the new Dimmitt Bobcats' head football coach today after one season at Muleshoe as defensive coordinator.
Arias was the head football coach at Friona for eight years before retiring during the middle of the 2023-2024 football season.
In his time at Friona, he became the winningest head coach in Friona school history with 49 wins.
He took the defensive coordinator position at Muleshoe this past year. The Mules went 6-5 overall and lost to Canadian in the bi-district round.
Arias will take over for Johnny Nino, who coached the Bobcats for four seasons. Dimmitt finished their season this year with a 2-8 overall record.
