Texline girls make history; Texline boys get the blowout bi-district win

VEGA, Texas (KFDA) - Both Texline basketball teams survived and advanced to the next round in the playoffs on Tuesday night.

The #17 Texline Lady Tornadoes made school history by getting the upset win over #12 Whitharral, 47-40, getting the regional semifinal win for the first time in school history.

Jada Clay from Texline played a huge role in the win, getting 23 points, almost half of the team’s total points.

Texline led the entire game until close to the end of the fourth quarter when the Lady Panthers tied it, but the Lady Tornadoes prevailed through free-throw shooting and late baskets from Clay and Jasmyn Wilson.

The Lady Tornadoes will now face #5 Nazareth in the regional finals. Time and date are TBD.

#5 Texline boys ahead of bi-district matchup with Hart. (Maya Kitchens)

The #5 Texline boys got a big win over the Hart Longhorns shortly after, 92-44.

The Tornadoes had 15 three-pointers made throughout the contest, and seven of them were from Rett Wann.

Wann led all scorers with 21 points, and was one of five scorers in double digits: Will Clay with 17, Bo Bradley with 15, Joe Clay with 12, and Rowel Martinez with 10.

Hart ends their season with a 10-11 record. Texline will play the winner of Follett/Groom in the area round. Time and date are TBD.
