AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Tascosa Rebels have found success late in the season, securing their spot in the third round of the playoffs for the first time in four years.

The Rebels got the third-place spot in district 2-5A division one after their win over the Amarillo High Sandies.

They quickly found success in the playoffs, getting a bi-district win over El Paso Americas, and then taking down an undefeated Saginaw team to advance to the regional semifinal.

Tascosa head football coach, Ken Plunk, said his team needed this win.

“It means a tremendous amount because we’ve been stuck in the second round for the last three years,” Plunk said. “I don’t feel like we’re a second round program...we’re a Thanksgiving program and beyond. I was just really really wanting to get past this one.”
